From Rachel M. Wilson, author of Don't Touch, comes an eerie and utterly compelling short story about best friends Leslie and Evy, whose friendship changes when the enigmatic Marsh brothers move to town.
Nina LaCour, author of Everything Leads to You, Hold Still, and The Disenchantments, called Rachel M. Wilson's debut novel, Don't Touch, "a tender love story about the beauty and the risk of showing someone who you really are," while Tim Wynne-Jones, author of Blink & Caution, hailed it as "fiercely compelling, darkly funny, and [a novel that] hums like a high-tension wire with energy."

The Game of Boys and Monsters A Short Story eBook Rachel M Wilson Reviews
The atmosphere drips off the page in this story of Les, Evy and the hunky yet creepy Marsh twins. Beware ye chiseled cheekbones. This cries out (in a very creepy forest) to be transformed monster-like into a full length novel.
Evy and Les are best friends who enjoy to talk about boys and draw it back to their shared love of fantasy. When a simple game of categorizing boys into vampires and werewolves turns suddenly real, the two friends are confronted with a strain in their friendship as Evy begins to act out of character and strange. Wilson’s supernatural twists and turns will keep you captivated throughout the short story, while the end leaves you craving more.
Very interesting read! I recommend this story to anyone who is interested in a mixing of genres, in a good way. Les and Evy show a wonderful progression of what it means to grow from a dependent relationship into one’s own self. Their game of categorizing starts out harmless enough, but later, we see the transformation of labels that is just subjective enough to have the reader questioning what actually is happening. The best part about the story is the ending. It is open ended, and I want to know what happens later! It makes the reader think and finish the story themselves. Overall, very good!
This one made the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Forget Edward and Jacob and Bella...they're toddlers compared to the Marsh brothers and doomed, restless Evy. The next time the October dark presses against your safely closed window, listen for the howling in the woods.
This story was amazing. Rachel Wilson did a great job at creating mystery and romance through the characters of Evy and Les. Both of the girls start out best friends, but things start to change once the Marsh boys come to town. Evy and Les begin to grow apart but it seems that Les is starting to figure out her identity. Les's relationship with Evy becomes distant because of the nightly adventures that Evy and the Marsh boys begin to take. Rumors fly around about Evy, but nobody knows what's going on, not even Les. This story is a create representation of the YA genre and anybody that is a fan of the Twighlight series will certainly find this story interesting.
Rachel Wilson has written an amazing short stories that combines wonderful genres such us; science fiction, romance, and mystery! Les and Evy, the leading characters, have dynamic personalities and lead readers on a journey through their personal self discovery. Wilson's playful language through Les' narration caused my attention to be immediately drawn in and glued to the text. The mystery within Wilson's story requires readers to be kept on their toes and collect clues along the way. The best part of Wilson's story is the ending, which is left open ended for readers to have thoughtful interpretations for what will become of the characters. I LOVED THIS STORY LINE AND I WANT TO READ MORE!!!
I absolutely loved it! This is a story I found myself relating to in many ways when thinking back high school there are cute boys, hip glasses, sneaking out and star gazing. Evy and Les have been best friends since they can remember and know everything about each other…at least we thought. Evy is the girl who goes against the grain in a quirky and confident way. Les seems to observe from the background and looks up to Evy for confirmation and belonging. This all changes once Evy begins to act out of character and no one can figure out why, not even her best friend. Suddenly, the roles being to shift as Les grows into who she is as a person and Evy falls deeper into whatever it is she's battling. Readers will find themselves reading so quickly that they'll be startled when it ends, but will be begging for more.
