It was such a great read except where Jerrett first met Raine at his brothers’ party at Jerrett’s House where he was intrigued with Taine but after scarring her away he take Raine’s nemesis Merelyn into one of his bedrooms on his brother’s prom night. When emotions were high you can feel them from both Jerrett and Raine involving their obstacles life will throw. Jocks will take cash bets to nail certain girls that are untouchable, and when life choices gets close to reconsider options what would you choose???

(Spoiler— Trigger is rape) Raine will face a lot of touch and heartbreaking choices in life and after her high school graduation and her news her life is hard. Rich people are mean and will pay out money to cover a mistake no matter what Raine wants. Camron is a living breathing piece of bull crap, the way he treats people women in general and how he runs to mommy and daddy to cover up his stunts. The way the brothers are towards each other your would think they were raised by two different families especially the golden boy that’s on a sports, special and perfect pedestal Camron and the black sheep tattooed grease monkey that his parents can’t stand Jerrett. Raine A New Adult Romance edition by JC Valentine M Carroll Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Raine follows the story of Raine and Jarrett through an unexpected relationship surrounded by not the best circumstances. An unexpected love, a secret, and a family torn to shreds.

Raine thought she was in love, she is excited for prom and everything about graduating, until things take a turn for the worse with her boyfriend Cameron. When Raine is thrown out on her own and her perfect life turned upside down, she never expected the unexpected friendship of Jarrett, Cameron's older brother and the black sheep of the family.

Watching Raine and Jarrett's friendship and relationship progress through the next nine months was unexpected yet beautiful. Both of them have trust issues with one another, not sure how truthful the other is being. Watching them slowly open up to one another was beautiful, but Raine still held back some important information. I understand her reasoning behind why she didn't open up to Jarrett, but I wish she would have been open with him. Seeing as though this book is told in dual POV we see that Jarrett starts to figure things out on his own, but doesn't want to believe what he thinks happened.

Raine and Jarrett go through A LOT in this book, and my heart broke for each of them throughout their story. Both of them grew up a lot in this story, and I really enjoyed seeing how far each of them came from the beginning to the end. I loved how protective Jarrett was over Raine, and how Raine refused to let others make decisions for her. She was strong throughout this entire story, but she really showed her strength towards the end, when she finally spoke the truth.

I loved the back and forth between Jarrett and Raine with their feelings. Seeing them start out not knowing one another, to becoming friends, to something more. Their story is beautiful, heart-wrenching, and absolutely amazing. I fell hard for Jarrett and my heart went out for Raine. If you're looking for a well written and beautiful new adult love story, I highly recommend Raine by J.C. Valentine!
What an emotional story, and unfortunately it happens all too often!! The popular boy (or girl) pays attention to the UNpopular girl (or boy) to get what he wants, (which is usually sex) and then they drop you like a hot potato and make you look like a fool. This book shows that even after that pain, life with love can happen!

•Fresh Start
This is the 3rd time I've read this story! It never fails to pull me in each time I read it. Although it deals with some tough & touchy subject matter, J.C. VALENTINE still makes me laugh while reading how she weaves her characters together, a perfect blend of hard and soft. I cannot get enough of her work, she's AWESOME!! RAINE contains adult situations some readers may fine offensive. This is a deeply emotional story that contains violence, rape, explicit sex, and strong language. It is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
Jarret Moss opened his house for his little brother to throw a small party after the prom. Raine wandered upstairs after a confrontation with the head cheerleader to get away and take a break. Not knowing the upper level was off limits during the party. Most girls cowered and ran away when Jarret glowered at them, but not Raine, she squared her shoulders and stood up to him. He was shocked at not only her, but himself for liking it, liking her!
Raine Forrester was a good girl who followed the rules and always did as she was told. Cameron Moss had never even looked at her in all the years they'd gone to school together, so she was completely shocked when the most popular jock in school stopped to talk to her outside of her house. Never having a boyfriend before, she was waiting for the prank, but it never happened. That is until the night of their prom when her world came crashing down on her. Cameron forced her into sex she wasn't ready for after the party at his brothers house. Because she was not prepared or ready for sex, a virgin, and not on birth control she ended up pregnant. Since he refused to return her calls and ignored her like she didn't exist, she confronted him after graduation when he was with his family. They called her names and not only said she was only after their money, but then tried to pay her off to have an abortion or give the child up for adoption. She refused it all, saying she only wanted Cameron to be a part of their child's life. His parents and him refused, saying it would ruin his life, so she walked away. Not knowing where to go or what to do, as soon as she told her parents she was pregnant they kicked her out a week before graduation. Jarret is the only one to come after her to make sure she was ok, but still tried to hand her some money for a motel, she still refused, not wanting to be his charity case.
After running into Raine again at the grocery store, things start to change between them. How do things work out between not only Raine and Jarret, but between their respective families? There are many ups and downs within this story, as in life. But at the end of the day, it's a romantic HEA! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one again, and will continue to read it over and over; luckily I own it as an ebook otherwise the pages would be worn due to as many times as I've read it already! 😊 Please be ADVISED before reading this book, I feel that I need to advise you and all future readers that in all likelihood this book may have some valid triggers that you as a reader may find objectionable. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding sexual abuse that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the produced. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING! Remember there IS a story to be told between Raine and Jarret! Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.
